Notes from the Principal’s Desk
**A reminder to parents and students that students should not be arriving at school prior to 7:30a.m.  There is no supervision available for students until that time.
**With thanks to the P.T.A. and 5th grade concessions profits, all 5th graders were given an assignment book on their first day of classes for this year.  6th, 7th, and 8th graders are only able to utilize the P.T.A.’s assistance, however, and must, if interested, purchase their assignment books at $2.50.  For students and parents interested in purchasing an assignment book, similar to the books of years past, they are available in the Office from Mrs. Dearborn.  Students and parents are welcome to utilize other assignment books if they choose.
**On Thursday, September 9, we will practice a “Code Green” situation with all students and staff.  Code Green is our terminology for a plan where HMS needs to be secured with all students and staff inside the building.  In this instance, students will be aware of this drill and hopefully will respond accordingly.
**Hermon Middle School will host its annual fall Open House on Wednesday, September 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.   Teachers will be available to meet and greet parents during this time.  Also, computer teacher Tonja Edgecomb will meet at 7:30 in the gymnasium with parents of 7th and 8th graders interested in learning about the particulars of taking a laptop home.
**We will be eliminating the paper copy of our newsletter with the start of the 2nd quarter.  Along with the paper copy of the breakfast and lunch menu, the newsletter will be on the HMS web page (hermonms.org).  Limited hard copies will be available in the Office and to students who request one.
